Destiny's Godchild
(A Medieval Legendary Beginning for the House of Charlemagne)

The story of young Egar the Magician, sent to seek his destiny, combines the mysticism of the times with actual historical figures, including Charlemagne's great, great, great grandfather, Pepin de Vain.

Entertaining in the palace of the Merovingians in Paris, Egar meets Pepin de Vain who is tutor to the prince. Seeing a vision of a great king yet to come, Egar tells Pepin. The nobleman assumes he is to be that king, landing himself and Egar in serious trouble.

B.P.S.C. IRWIN Award in Fiction 1999

"A beautifully lucid style makes Destiny's Godchild a pleasure to read—cleanly written, briskly paced, with an interesting central character who gives the reader an unusual slant on the history of the period." Eve LaSalle Caram, Senior Instructor, The Writers' Program, UCLA Extension.

"This one is really good. Pepin feels like a real person (he was a real person: the author can trace her family history back to him). The writing was very well done and shows a lot of research. Well worth the reader's time." Paul Lappen, Dead Trees Review.
