You will learn where to find the proper resources (e.g.: attorneys, accountants, tax experts, etc.), for information and, direction on important aspects of starting a small business.  You will learn to draft an effective business plan- and finally, and most importantly, this course will lay the basis for the day-to-day operation of a new business (Bilingual English/Spanish tutoring and explanations upon request). -

 

The course will include the following topics and review discussions on the following subjects:

  1. The start-up steps for creating a business and State of California requirements’ - Classify and evaluate your business ideas.
  2. Types of business structures: Sole proprietorship, partnership, limited liability companies (LLCS) and corporations.
  3. The importance of the business “name” (a corporate name, a fictitious business name or the name of a business’ product or service)
  4. Business locations: (Home office and/or rental space- benefits and disadvantages)
  5. Accounting Basics: Budget – Start-up cost estimates. Bookkeeping/keeping good income and expense records and profit forecasting.
  6. A Marketing Section: Analysis of business competition. Marketing, sales strategies and advertising techniques. Learning how to network with other professionals supporting each other’s businesses.
  7. Customer Services and leadership information that will grow the organization to success.
  8. Tax basics: Government and professional tax information and support.
