We Started!

Friday, September 22nd

Thomas and I took the BIG step today.  We drove down to the new offices of Hope International (by the way…LOVE THEM) and signed our contract to adopt Becca.  We sat down with Dawn and went over a lot of the program information and had a talk about certain choices and options.  It’s wild that it’s all started! Talk about butterflies!

We have definitely received a pleasant surprise through! Dawn visited our house recently for Max’s final three year check (for our Russian adoption) and between that (and the interview on Friday) we will have the majority of our home study complete.  No matter how often you experience a home study, they are still a little nerve racking.  We still have some paperwork, but it kinda feels a little like we skipped a step.  I know we didn’t, but we had this list in our mind of how it was supposed to go.

We hope to be finished with our home study and dossier by sometime in the November/December range.  Immigration takes the longest (currently about two months from applying).  The Dossier (just in case you’re not sure) is the paperwork you send to the foreign country.

We still have a long road ahead (probably at least 18 months), but at least it has started!

God has blessed us and we continue to feel so amazed and undeserving.

Our Application

Today I felt like we just started a very long pregnancy.  You know, awesome with little butterflies that make you slightly sick…lol.  It has started.  Today we sent our official application to our agency.  The very first step in this adoption process!  I can’t believe we’re doing this again!  I feel so excited and nervous.  I remember vividly the paperwork, though I must say after doing it once it’s not quite as daunting.  Who knows what the tests within this adoption will be!  What an adventure!

Please continue to pray that God blesses this process…all aspects of it.

Please also pray that He brings Becca (as we now affectionately call her) and her biological family into His arms as they face the life altering trials ahead.
