Buffalo, New York.

This is my home page devoted
primarily to my model railroad.
I think my layout is unique in how it uses
unwanted space in our basement.
Follow the Index to the right to the layouts,
links and even a few family photos for our out of town
relatives.
The Story (So Far)
Above is the diagram
of my layout in our basement. (Click on it for more detail)
The red wall divides our basement in half - one side being the family
room/bar and the other the laundry room/workshop. The staircase
comes down directly in the center of the basement over the wall and ending
on the right side E.
I started with a simple oval that ran across the
bar A-B, through the wall via tunnel B-H to the other
room - past my HO layout H-I and back through tunnel
I-A.
BUT, I had a lot of space going to
waste by our furnace F and under the staircase E. SO - I
built another tunnel B-C, and constructed a reversing loop under
the staircase E. The train would now travel:
A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-A etc. or by changing 2 switches simply go:
A-B-H-I-A.
Since the wall hid much of the
action, I cut "portholes" at C&D in the wall, and
contructed mini "scenes" that the train could travel too.
