How
to Enroll
Parents who are interested
in enrollment at SCP should schedule a visit
with the director. During this visit, the
parents will have time to ask questions and
spend time in the classroom. The enrollment
process begins when the parent submits an
application form along with a registration
fee. If space is available, additional registration
materials will be sent with a letter of acceptance.
A security deposit is required to reserve
a space at that time.
Summit Children's Program
highly values diversity among our staff and
our families. The center enrolls children
regardless of race, religion, sect, national
origin, family structure, or source of childcare
funding. We will do our best to adapt our
program for children with special needs.

Our
Location
Summit Children's Program is
located at the corner of Greene and Westview
Streets in the heart of West Mount Airy. We
are one block from C.W. Henry Public School
and one block from Lincoln Drive. We share
our building space with Summit Presbyterian
Church and the School of Dance Arts, among
several other community organizations. We
have generous indoor space, including a gymnasium
and an outdoor play space that includes an
enclosed, wooded backyard playground.
Our
Staff
Our
professionally trained staff members are the
greatest asset of our program. Their special
talents and skills combine to form the foundation
of an outstanding learning environment for
children and families. Educated and experienced
in the field of education, the staff received
ongoing training and is encouraged to become
involved in professional organizations committed
to quality early childhood and school-age
care programs.
The administrative leadership
team at SCP works closely together to ensure
that the program runs smoothly. Shelly Brick,
our Executive Director, has the primary responsibility
for the administrative and educational supervision
of the program. She works very closely with
Betty Barron, the Administrative Assistant,
on day-to-day administration of our toddler
and preschool programs, and with Tina Harris,
the SAC director, in relation to our programs
for elementary school students.
All staff
members undergo criminal and child abuse background
checks and all staff members are certified
in first aid, CPR, fire safety, shelter-in-space
and emergency preparedness.

“We
are very fortunate to have such caring
and committed parents. Your children
are enjoying playing and learning under
the guidance of Summit’s caring
and dedicated child care and after school
program staff. My children have been
at SCP since they were three years old,
progressing from preschool, to pre-K
for two years, summer camp, and SAC.
During the seven years they have been
at SCP, I have never had to worry about
whether they were having fun, learning
how to get along with other children,
or enjoying the great outdoors. This
speaks volumes about SCP’s expert
and dedicated staff.”
