SkillsUSA - Ayala High School

Regionals is Just Around the Corner

This year's Regional Contest will be split over two Saturdays. The Leadership contests will be on January 31, 2009. This year Ayala High School will be hosting this event. We need to have everyone here at 7:30 AM Sharp to help setup and compete. Don't Forget your Portfolios.

The following weekend will be the Skills contests. We will be starting in Rancho Cucamonga at the UTI Training Center. We will need to meet a the bus loading area at 6:30 AM Sharp. Lunch will be provided for all. Don't Forget your Portfolios. From there some students will be bused to satellite locations, depending on facilities. You must compete in Official dress for your contest (see “Official Dress” article). These contests are open to the public, so parents can come an encourage you. Because this will be an authorized field trip by the School District, all participants must travel on the District bus. No one can drive themselves to the events. Parents can take their student home only with permission from the Principal, and advance notice to Mr. Munsey. This is District Policy.

All students must also come to their contest with a portfolio. There is an Official Portfolio Guide that can be found on the SkillsUSA web site. During the next few chapter meetings there will be instructions on how to prepare you portfolio. Even if you have competed in the past years, you need to attend these sessions to improve your portfolio from last year. A good portfolio can make the difference between a Gold Medal or nothing. Be prepared.

Here is a guide for preparing your Portfolio.
