Broken Weather, Fixed Schedule

For the first time in over a week, I was able to walk to my car this morning without putting myself in danger of suffering a heat stroke. Now, as the cool, damp wind blows through the windows, it's almost cold in good ol' Nisky.
With the Grafton Sprint behind me, signaling the end of the early-season and the start of the primary season, my transition towards the big races is currently underway. Taking advantage of a full blown afternoon off from training today, I finally finished my training plan for the rest of the season. I purposely waited until after the early-season races were over so as to gain a better perspective on where I was, and how the upcoming weeks should be structured. Believe me, when you're a completely self-coached athlete and your primary goals for the season include as diverse a selection of events as an XTERRA triathlon, an Olympic triathlon and a full 26.2 in the fall, developing a season-long program is no trivial task. But I'm glad to say, it's done, and that should be the last major planning session until the off-season.
With the unexpected change in plans for this weekend, I'll be looking forward to ramping things up over the next couple of days and enjoying a full weekend of training out on some of my newfound favorite roads.
See you out there.
