Three Hour Tour

Well, thanks to everybody who chimed in the other day and for all the well-wishes. I'm happy to report that things are back on track and I'm feeling good. Darn good, that is, and I'm looking forward to starting my last week of Base 2 tomorrow morning. Beyond that, we'll have ourselves a rest week and an LT test on the bike, and then it's Base 3 - a time for speedwork, maximum volume, and even some training races on the bike.

"Hey Joe, what about that clipper?"

Yeah, so yesterday was a challenge. We had a wind chill advisory here all day (which, by the way, continued through today and is expected to stick around through Tuesday) that brought out temps in the negative double-digits. I'd considered taking the mountain bike out for a few hours and then finishing up on the trainer, but the roads were slick and the wind was fierce... Playing it safe, I did the three hour tour on the trainer in the warmth of my basement. That's right, over 50 miles traveled and not one single inch of forward movement.

Last year on March 1 I put away the trainer for good, and didn't touch it until the start of the off-season. It seriously had cobwebs on it, and I'm hoping for a repeat of that this year.

Keep it easy.

I feel your pain on the trainer issue. I'm training for IMAZ and I live in Utah, home of the "Best Snow on Earth". Ya, that means a ton of trainer time. Your buddy T-Metz thinks I'm crazy but I tend to take my trainer sessions a little serious.

3 hours on the trainer is such a mental workout as well as physical. Nice job getting it done.

Trainer workouts that long are great to build up the mental toughness your half ironman will require.

It was 67 degrees today. Got my bike out for the first time ever. :)

Writing on March 1 at 9:40pm. Here in CT, it's supposed to snow tomorrow. Approx. 6 inches. How about up in the Albany area? Dust off that trainer!! LOL
