Spring. It's In There.

I realize that 36 degrees doesn't necessarily feel like Spring weather for a lot of folks out there, but here in Upstate, NY, man... It's Spring. And so far I'm happy to say that my March 1st "deadline" for ditching the trainer and hitting the roads has so far been met with great success. This week I had some great rides on the road (even when presented with the option of only 1 or 2 functional gears at a time). Today looked a bit grim, as it wound up being breezy enough to force those temperatures back down below the tolerable point, thereby making the prospect of riding on the road a bit less desirable. But keeping in mind my promise to myself to leave the trainer behind altogether, I opted to take the mountain bike out on the trail for my scheduled 2 hour romp. This ended up being a great decision. The trails were nice and hard-packed with minimal snow, and my riding buddy Christian was a fine compliment to the day by playing quite the tour-guide, showing me some beautiful sections of singletrack I'd never known existed.
After a long romp on the mountain bike in the cold, there are few things better than burritos from Moe's. Luckily, there just happens to be one right where all the riding happens. Granted, I seriously doubt I was able to burn the same amount of calories as I took in afterwards... But I'm sure they were pretty close.I hope all of you out there are finding your own little pieces of Spring, and have been able to get out and enjoy it!

It’s a great time of year. I went out to start the van this morning and realised I didn’t have to. And on my way back inside I had to stop and turn around because I noticed the birds singing.. Summers coming..
Cheers.
Rice.
It was warm enough today that I skipped hose! There's something about bare legs that makes me feel like spring! :)
Are you preping for an Xterra race this seaon? That's a lot of mud!
