Coeurly Q’s
The Coeurly Q’s formed their club in 1960. Their Club
name was derived from the first name of the beautiful city of Coeur d’Alene ID,
and the square dance maneuver called the Curly Q. They have a long history of
square dancing, and have several members from the original formation of their
club that are still dancing with them. They are Norm and Doris Peterson and
Elvina Doyle.
Elvina was one of
the original signers of the Idaho Federation that incorporated in 1964. This
tradition of dancing continues and lives on with Elvina’s teenage granddaughter
Justine Brown. Justine learned to dance at a young age and loved it so much
that now she is a Round Dance Cuer.
As a club of the Idaho Federation Area 1. They have
helped host the Idaho State Festival in 1965, 1981, 2002 and in 2007. The
Coeurly Q’s are a very active club and participate in many community
activities. They have also sponsored Club activities such as picnics, a mystery
trip, and many other social events. Come and join the Coeurly Q’s the first
Saturday of every month Oct-May.
