  Araby Maid Page2

The Araby Maid was a three masted schooner that sank in a collision back in 1903. She sits upright and intact in approximately 200 feet of water. The composite hull, wood and steel, has broken down some over the years but is in remarkably good shape. The top most deck is all but gone and a good number of ribs are showing. The images on this page were captured during my first trip to this wreck back in June 2000.

Gash

Here is the fatal wound that sent the Maid to the bottom. She collided with a steel hulled vessel and obviously lost out.

The gash cuts deep into the port side bow of the wreck and cuts her almost to the keel.
