Rebreather Main... Mk15 Chassis Center Section...

The Chassis of the Mk15 is a fiberglass case that houses all of the components of the Mk15. It keeps the components such as the counterlung protected and provides mounting points for the harness and all of the internal components.

Chassis

This is the chassis of the Mk15 with the cover in place. The circular area covers the Center Section. The spheres and plumbing are located in the bottom (shown here to the left of the image. Two butterfly latches keep things buttoned up.

Cover Off

With the cover off and most of the internal items removed you get a good look at the basic chassis. The series of holes in the circular area allow water to pass through the chassis as the counterlung expands and contracts throughout the breathing cycle. The Green and black circles to the left hold the spheres. They are color coded so you don't mix up which sphere goes where.

Stripped

All of the major components have been removed. Most of the plumbing is still in place but that is about it. The two silver plates, one at the top and the other at the bottom of the rig, hold the harness and wings in place.

Counter Weight

This is a close-up of the counter weight at the top of the rig. Back mounted rebreathers tend to be butt heavy because the counterlung is located at the top of the rig and the spheres, electronics and plumbing are at the bottom. This weight helps to restore proper trim.
