Tarot Cards
I view the Tarot and other systems of divination as very
valuable and beautiful tools. Inspiration comes to us in an incredible variety
of ways. I do not believe that anything
is 'locked in stone' except for the fact that
we decided to reincarnate here, and now we're here.
From the time that we could walk/talk/
feed ourselves, then we began to exercise choice.
So, what the Tarot and other systems
show us is a full range of POSSIBILITY and LIKELIHOOD--no more, no less. I am not about doom and gloom. More importantly, beyond looking at specific
references and dealing
with specific requests for 'answers' to life questions, I've been
trained to
'look for the metaphor' of the teaching (thank you, Joseph Rael!).
Create a 'Tarot Party' for you and your
interested friends:
please e-mail me with your location and the date you'd like to get together.
We'll need 6 people to reserve the date, counting you as one of the 6.
As host, you'll receive a special gift. It's always interesting when 'connected' friends do things together since they
probably have linked Karma. Private sessions are $40 for 25 minutes,
or $2 a minute, for a minimum 15 minutes.
There are lots of beautiful decks of cards. I use:
The Universal Tarot, which
includes the wisdom and beauty of many religions,
philosophies and societies. I find it to be beautiful and possessing
a lot of clarity.
The Thoth Deck, by well-known
anthropologist Angeles Arrien. These
cards are also lovely to look at and deal in very subtle nuances.
I per-sonally don't find them quite as satisfying, but some people prefer their use.
The Tarot of Transformation, co-authored
by Willow Arlenea and Jasmin Lea Cori. These women have a 'common ground in humanistic and transpersonal
forms of psychotherapy.' For clients to whom this is of especial interest, these cards provide the right focus and are
extremely Feminine in the energetic sense. The art work shows movement and sweep.
Cards & Items with a shamanic focus:
Runes & Rune Cards, by
Ralph Blum. This ancient system of divination, from Germany, northern Europe and finally the British Isles,
has its own sense
of magic and possibility. Ralph is a longtime researcher
and practitioner, and
his written explanations are clear and to the point.
(Native American) Sacred Path Cards, by author Jamie Sams.
Her accompanying book, which details the 44
most sacred life concepts held by many Native people, is well-researched, supported by her elders, and from the heart.
Her additional volume, the Sacred Path Workbook, has huge value in finding a clear understanding of life challenges which
are facing us and ways to understand 'how we are doing' and if we are embodying the necessary
qualities.
I LOVE these cards and have been using them personally for many
years. They have been uncannily accurate.
The Animal Cards, also by Jamie Sams, were the first she brought out. Readers everywhere
feel heart-connected to the beautiful renderings of our animal relatives. The book's insights into the assistance and
'Medicine' of each animal Nation are clear and imaginatively given. I always use these in support
of the Sacred Path card layouts.
Hands of the Ancients Medicine Cards,
created by Jan Wright.
Notice she says 'created by', as she honors the Spirit Medicine that
none of us invented, only discovered. These 22 paintings of petroglyphs reaches back into antiquity, calling out to
spirit helpers from our western lands. "May the Ancients have a hand in your personal spiritual growth on your Spirit
Quest Journey."
Supporting helpers: 2 decks from Susan Boulet,
world-acclaimed shamanic artist.
The Goddess cards & The Animals: neither
one is a tarot deck per se.
But, they can illustrate a point or indicate what non-physical
entity might be
of assistance. Anyone who has seen Boulet's art work knows the transcendant beauty and breathtaking insights
that await the observer.
Books:
The Oracle Within, by Dick Sutphen (Pocket Books/ Simon & Schuster). This old trainer
of mine (sorry, Richard, you're not really old, just very knowledgeable!) is amazingly consistent in the quality of his literary
output. Of course, he has his own helping spirits who advise and assist. Go into this book to get a 'quick hit'
on something that is puzzling you: literally, stick a finger into the book and something will show up for you.
On page 5, Richard offers you
a brief centering exercise, and a request for assistance. After you have 'randomly' opened the book
and read the passage written for you, he offers an Eastern technique of throwing coins 3 times to determine 3 other passages
which may be of value to you.
