9/9: Supplies check

9/10:  Read and Take notes on Chapter 1 of the text

9/11: Quiz #2, service hour placement form, parent signature form

9/14: White Service Commitment paper

9/15: News Article #1 due (moved back one day from 9/14)

9/17: Quiz #2: Power point and Chapter 1 Notes

 

First 10 of hours of service + journals are due 10/5

Last day to turn in completed hours and service project for 10% extra credit: 11/20

Entire 20 hours + complete service project due 12/1

SOCIAL JUSTICE NEWS ARTICLES DUE DATES

Each article must be from a date within 2 weeks of the due dateIt must focus on a marginalized population:  the elderly, the chronically ill, the emotionally, physically or cognitively disabled, illegal immigrants, the homeless, the unemployed, the economically disadvantaged, refugees

Articles that are older than 2 weeks are an automatic zero.  There are no "do overs" for articles that are the wrong date or are not for a marginalized population

 Serving Dinner (up to 3 volunteers at a time):  For this opportunity, you can sign up for specific dates or even better, sign up to volunteer the same day of the week every week (for example, every Thursday.)  You'll have to wear closed toed shoes and no tank tops or muscle shirts.  We'll equip you with gloves, hairnets and aprons when you arrive.

    Mondays: 5:15 - 7:15, Wednesdays: 5:15 - 7:15, Thursdays: 5:15 - 7:15, Fridays: 5:15 - 7:15, Sundays: 4:45 - 6:15

Children's Resource Room (up to 2 volunteers at a time):  You'd be working with our adult volunteers to provide a safe & fun environment for our kids to play.  Usually all the kids are under the age of 5, so baby-sitting experience is helpful!

    Mondays: 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Wednesdays: 6:00 - 8:00 pm

 Kid's Night (up to 2 volunteers at a time):  This is meant to be a time for structured activities like board games, outdoor time, arts and crafts, etc.  You can come in and help run the activity---and even plan the activity ahead of time!  Mostly likely, you'd be working with our residents ages 5-12.:Tuesdays: 6:30 - 8:30
