From the time that I remember , I have had a compulsion to draw and paint and to perfect my work. I remember , as
a small child, seeing a natavity scene in the cracks in the wall by the bed I slept in. I thought that extremely
special but never shared that with anyone until now. The ability for that kind of visualation never left me. My earliest
work was of my animal friends, and of course the unobtainable horse of my dreams which took many forms .
People began to recognize my artwork in elementary school, and in highschool, I often taught the other students.
I never formally studied art, but remebered the advice of AB Jackson, when attempting to study under him at ODU. "Stay
out of the classroom and preserve your originality" At the time I was producing surrealistic work, and purely
subjective, so for that era it was good advice. I have, however, since then benefited form the association of
many other artists. After an intensive spell of producing surreal and abstract paintings I experienced
a profound change in the way I percieved of life. Becomming a Christian stableized my life in many ways ,. Until
that point I couldn't I maintain the patience or concentration to do accurate portraits ...and since
have produced many.
My experience in art has spanned a wide realm from designing furniture and painting murals to tiny figurine sculptures
that I use in making jewelry.
I still do the occasional astract painting.and am incorporating realism and gaphic design in the abstract
realm. I am having great fun with this, . .
A pet portrait can take 1 to two weeks or more in
pencil and an oil portrait upward of 2 months. ......Dealing with MS I actually went about 90 % blind at one time,
so I count it as a miracle that I am still doing my artwork. I have also produced seascapes and portraits of people,
some of them famous, sculpture , Jewelry, and am constantly experimenting with new concepts in arts and crafts.
