June 29: "The Magical Misery Tour." Jan Meslin, co-chair of UUSC, Southern Calif., will talk about her trip to New Orleans as a volunteer with the UU Service Committee after Hurricane Katrina.
July 6: "Reclaiming Patriotism." Richard Gillock, former vice president and member of the ACLU, Southern Calif., states, "Our Constitution is in crisis with most of our civil liberties eroded. What role do we the people have to preserve America?"
July 13: "Carbon Ring Sunday." Lee Marie Sanchez, our consulting minister, will join with members of the UUCA Carbon Circle to discuss ways in which we can reduce our carbon footprint on the planet.
July 20: "Connect With Respect," Terry Le Page, a teacher of compassionate listening, returns to our pulpit to discuss how to improve communication between parents and children, whether adult or young children.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
Israeli Peace Activist speaks at UUCA June 29
Dr. Jeff Halper, the founder of the Israeli Coalition Against House Demolitions (ICAHD), will speak at our church on Sunday, June 29, 7:30 p.m. This event is co-sponsored by the Cousins Club of Orange County and the UUJME (UUs for Justice in the Middle East). Discussion will follow his presentation. Dr. Halper has been a peace activist for more than 30 years. He is the author of "Obstacles to Peace" and his latest book, "An Israeli in Palestine: Resisting dispossession, Redeeming Israel." Suggested donation is $10.00, but all donations are welcome. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
The Adult Forum discussion group meets Sundays at 9:45 a.m. On June 29 we will discuss the politics of oil as gas prices continue to rise. Please join us for a stimulating discussion and lively exchange of views!
Carbon Circle Meets - Tuesday, June 24, 7:30 p.m.
Come to the new study group led by Joe Chaikin to learn more about global warming and how we can reduce our carbon emissions. This is part of a campaign by our California UU Legislative Ministry. Come and learn what you can do about it!
R. E. News -- The new R.E. building is now fully operational!
To register children, ages 5 and up, see Desiree Hernandez or Ellie Stafford. We have several volunteer teachers: Judy Brazell, Ruth Shapin, and Eleanor Stafford. The curriculum will include UU values, understanding other religions, and learning about social concerns. And yes, there will be music!
Wednesday evenings at 7:30 -- International Folk Dancing at the church! All dances are taught by Carol Maybrier, an excellent teacher. No partners needed; donation is $4. Beginners are welcome - first visit is free!
A meditation group meets on the first and third Sundays at 12:30 p.m. in the RE building. Ask Bill Strahan for more information, or call him at 714-771-7836. Information is available on-line about the categories of meditation and an example of guided meditation.

| We are located at 511 S. Harbor Blvd. in Anaheim at the corner of Santa Ana St. (two blocks south of Lincoln). From the 5 freeway south, exit at Lincoln Blvd. in Anaheim, go east 0.8 miles to Harbor and south two blocks. Coming north on the 5 freeway, take the Harbor Blvd. exit and go north about one mile. From the 91 freeway, exit at Harbor Blvd., and go 1.5 miles south. Turn west and enter our parking lot from Santa Ana St. Overflow parking is available in the school lot 1/2 block south down the alley to the west. |
