PIGEON FORGE, TENNESSEE
September 2002
Our visit unknowingly coincided with the annual fall car show weekends. If you have any interest in classic cars or street rods, then definitely visit Pigeon Forge in September. Early reservations are required and the weekend traffic is horrendous, but the quality and number of cars will surpass any inconvenience, we spent two full days viewing the cars. |

Summersville Music Park Campground Summersville, West Virginia.

Clabough's Campground Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Well maintained campground with narrow sites and a small pool. If you plan on using the Pigeon Forge trolley system, you will spend considerable time riding around since the campground is on a trunk line and you have to ride to the depot and then transfer to the main line.

Black Bear Jamboree Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. We were disappointed with both the dinner, the same menu as the Dixie Stampede, and the show. The evening was over-priced. |
Dollywood Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. We visited the theme park during the car show weekend and practically had the park to ourselves, a very enjoyable day of music, country style food and rides. |
Cades Cove Smoky Mountains National Park. We made the mistake of visiting on a rainy day not realizing that most of the displays were on walking trails leading from the paved road. However we did have to stop for a black bear and her two cubs as they crossed the road, the highlight of the day. |
The Comedy Barn Theater Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Some of the jokes were corny, but the evening was hilarious when audience members were included in improvisations on stage, the best show we saw. |
Five Oaks Stables Sevierville, Tennessee. Gentle horses and interesting trails, we had a private ride because we did not have to wait for a larger group before starting the ride. |
Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We spent a full day exploring this Austrian style village, the Aquarium, the Great Smokey Arts and Crafts Community and the Roaring Fork Auto Tour. |
Dumplin Valley Bluegrass Festival Kodak, Tennessee. Friendly hosts with a good selection of talented bands including Rhonda Vincent and the Rage. A very enjoyable day. |
Country Tonight Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The show was entertaining, however one of the other shows in town might be a better choice. |
Prickett's Creek Campground Fairmont, West Virginia. Small rustic campground that is located downhill from a milk processing plant that has trucks and compressors running all night.
