KISSIMMEE, FLORIDA

March 2003

KOA WythevilleWytheville, Virginia. We made the ten hour drive again this year to escape the low temperatures forecasted for the higher elevations of West Virginia.

Jacksonville NorthKingsland, Georgia. Another ten hour day to drive out of a cold rainy afternoon. The campground is an old KOA located in a stand of pine trees, limited Dish reception. Adequate for a stop over.

Tropical Palms Fun ResortKissimmee, Florida. This is our second visit and this year we choose a site further from the noise of Old Town in a section usually reserved for rallies. During our stay the charging system for the coach battery malfunctioned for the second time. The techs at Camping World traced the problem to the GFCI receptacle near the lavatory. The outlet had tripped but the reset button did not activate and the converter that supplies the recharge voltage to the coach battery was wired downstream of the GFCI outlet. The GFCI outlet has now been replaced and relocated the bedroom side of the wall to eliminate any chance of being splashed again.

Kissimmee Sports Arena RodeoKissimmee, Florida. A weekly event that celebrates Kissimmee's cracker cowboy history, for a closer view of the action you should checkout the enclosed area above the chutes.

Mount Dora, Florida. Known as Florida's antique capital, Mount Dora is also an arts and crafts community with many interesting artist's studios and shops, a very enjoyable day trip.

World of OrchidsKissimmee, Florida. Admission is free and if you subscribe to the adage "you get what you pay for" you might want to visit something else, during our visit the facility had a neglected and run down appearance.

Arabian NightsKissimmee, Florida. A dinner theater that definitely lives up to it's rating as Orlando's number one attraction. A prime rib dinner with a show featuring beautiful horses and talented riders with an interesting story line. A very enjoyable evening, we highly recommend the Arabian Nights.

Kissimmee Bluegrass FestivalKissimmee, Florida. A three day festival held indoors. We attended on Sunday, mostly Gospel as expected with a good mix of local and national groups. We are planning to return in the future for the Saturday show.

This trip also included return visits to Sea World, The Magic Kingdom and Old Town Kissimmee.

The Barnyard RV ParkColumbia, South Carolina. This is our second visit, necessitated by tornado watches and warnings in Florida and Georgia.

Mount Morris Travel Trailer CampMount Morris, Pennsylvania. A rather primitive campground, the northernmost campground on our route open at this of year. A tree lined ridge blocks Dish reception at all sites.
