BRANSON, MISSOURI

KOA-Dayton Tall Timbers ResortBrookville, Ohio. This is our second visit and we are still impressed with this campground.

KOA StantonStanton, Missouri. Typical KOA with a small pool.

Meramec CavernsStanton, Missouri. We arrived at the advertised opening time but then had to wait an hour before the first tour started and then the guide rushed us thru the cavern with very little commentary.

Compton Ridge CampgroundBranson, Missouri. The campground was satisfactory with two pools, one an enclosed heated pool. A Fiddler's Convention was scheduled during our stay and proved to be the highlight of this vacation. Two and a half days of continuous jam sessions occurring simultaneously at three locations. We found one group of musicians whose passion and pleasure in playing was very evident and the talent rivaled any show in town.

The Branson RailroadRiding in the different styles of cars was interesting but the trip was generally disappointing due to the heavy foliage alongside the tracks and the lack of scenic vistas of the Ozarks.

Silver Dollar City Branson West, Missouri. A theme park with an attitude. Even though we only went on two rides, we still spent over eleven enjoyable hours in this beautiful park. The park offers many live shows, Marvel Cave, numerous Ozark artisans and displays, and rides. If you have an aversion to bats, skip Marvel Cave.

Mel Tillis TheaterBranson, Missouri. The lobby and theater are an impressive tribute to Mel, but we found the acoustics on this night to be less than desirable.

The Sons of the PioneersBranson, Missouri. We thoroughly enjoyed this show, well worth the price.

Dogwood Canyon Nature PreserveA very scenic 10,000 acre preserve founded by Johnny Morris of the Bass Pro Shops. We recommend confirming the tour times if you are interested in the complete tour so that you will not be disappointed.

Camp LakewoodEffingham, Illinois. Nice campground and lake with shady sites in a stand of mature trees.
