KISSIMMEE, FLORIDA
March 2001
After visiting most of Florida, we have decided that central Florida is the most appealing area, plenty to see and do with comfortable temperatures. |
KOA Wytheville Wytheville, Virginia. We drove 520 miles today to avoid a snowstorm approaching from the West. |
KOA Richmond Hill Richmond Hill, Georgia. Pretty campground and lake, we especially appreciated the coin operated rv power wash station. |

Tropical Palms Fun Resort Kissimmee, Florida. This is our favorite campground in the Orlando area. It is well landscaped and maintained with a pool that is open 24 hours. Additionally, when you don't feel like driving, there are numerous shops, many restaurants and entertainment within walking distance. |

Old Town Kissimmee, Florida. A mixture of shops, dining and amusement rides, adjacent to the resort. The highlight was the weekly Saturday Night Cruise with an exceptional array of street rods and live music. |
Kennedy Space Center Cape Canaveral, Florida. The Space Center was very impressive, especially when the tour bus was stopped to allow the recently returned Space Shuttle to be towed past the bus to the service bay. |
Church Street Station Orlando, Florida The evening was a hoot, an enjoyable dinner and then three different entertainment venues. Unfortunately Church Street Station is no longer open. |
Universal Studios Orlando, Florida. We spent an enjoyable day here, especially liked The Men In Black and the Jaws rides. |
Bok Tower Gardens Lake Wales, Florida. This was a relaxing change from the theme parks. |
Animal Kingdom Walt Disney World, Florida. Disney's attempt to compete with Busch, frankly we prefer Busch's live animal shows. |
Green Acres Family Campground Walterboro, South Carolina. |
Broken Wheel Campground Weston, West Virginia. Strong winds during the night blew down a tree next to our motorhome, future visits are unlikely. |
