Barbara Walker was nicknamed "bann'" by Ronnie Wells while learning to sing at the
Elliston Music Studio. She studied with Ron and Ronnie more than ten years, performing in their EMS Vocal
Showcases for six straight years. She has also appeared with well-known jazz artists in clubs and private functions in
Boston, Albuquerque and metro Washington, DC. She sang at every East Coast Jazz Festival since ‘97 in
a co-stage and occasionally on mainstage in special appearances. Her 2000 debut CD, "Making Love," features
Ron Elliston, James King, Steve Abshire and Mike Smith.
In 2002, with vocalist Lynne Waymon's support, she began offering 'Tues/Wed Nites' and other workshops as a "venue" to help vocalists hone their craft. Since Ronnie's "passing over", bann has dedicated this homegrown venue to the teachings of Ronnie Wells. |
