Abbie Beck serves as Staff Archeologist and Laboratory Director for Moore Archeological Consulting, Inc., Houston, Texas.  Ms. Beck's expertise is in Palynology, the reconstruction of past environments through the analysis of fossil pollen.  Ms. Beck, a Registered Professional Archaeologist and Qualified Principal Investigator (Archeology) under 36CFR61, directs cultural resource management projects, overseeing a staff of several archeologists.  The Texas Department of Transportation has precertified Ms. Beck for conducting Archeological Surveys (2.10.1) under Architectural and Engineering Professional Services Contracts.  Ms. Beckís background includes undergraduate and graduate level teaching experience through a Teaching Assistantship awarded by the Department of Anthropology at Washington State University.  Additionally, she has received advanced training in the analysis of faunal and lithic remains, and in the statistical analysis of archeological data.

As a Staff Archeologist, Ms. Beck conducts survey, testing, and mitigation of prehistoric and historic archeological sites.  As a Laboratory Director, Ms. Beck is responsible for the preparation of archeological materials according to the standards set forth by the Texas Archeological Research Laboratory, permanent curatorial facility for the State of Texas.  Ms. Beck coordinates and supervises urban and rural projects, performs archival research, and produces cultural resource reports.  Ms. Beck has served as Principal Investigator and Project Archeologist on projects with mandated Texas Antiquities Committee permits.

As a Research Technician, Ms. Beck chemically extracted and analyzed fossil pollen and plant macrofossils from archeological sediment samples, human coprolites, and organic sediments from lakes and bogs.  Ms. Beck conducted statistical analyses of paleoecological data and supervised the use of the Palynology Laboratory.  She assisted in the supervision and training of students analyzing paleoecological samples.
