Ben Mahmoud passed away peacefully on June 2, 2009 after succumbing to ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).
Ben was well aware of his mortality and his terminal ALS diagnosis neither surprised
nor frightened him.
As such, typical of Dad's propensity for planning, he wrote his own obituary which can be read here.
Ben was laid to rest on June 6, 2009 in the Neely Family Cemetery, near Hinton, WV.
This website will continue to be maintained by his son, Jeremy Knopow,
who can be reached at jeremyknopow@yahoo.com or by clicking here
May you take on your next journey Dad with the same gregariousness,
curiosity, and love of life that colored this one. We'll miss you.
