With Mother's Day just passed...
and Father's Day around the corner, I find my mind turning to thoughts of Aricin's birthparents.  Where are they?  How are they?  Are they at peace with their adoption plan for JiHwan?

People are quick to tell Eric and I how lucky AJ is.  The truth is, we are the lucky ones.  There are hundreds of wonderful families waiting to adopt a baby from South Korea.  Any of them would have been wonderful parent's for AJ.  But God chose to give JiHwan to Eric and I for a reason.  AJ saved us from being childless.  He gives our lives a new purpose and direction.  He brings us joy we had only previously imagined.

I believe AJ's birthmother is an exeptional woman.  I see her beauty everyday in the child we share.  What a brave and noble thing she did in parting from JiHwan.  I pray and hope someday my son or I will be able to take her by the hand, look her in the eye and thank her.

Praise the Lord- He threw a fit!
I realize most people would not be praising the Power that be when their baby throws his first major fit.  But I do!  It marks a wonderful place in our relationship.  Aricin finally feels comfortable enough with my being here that he can get mad and not be afraid I am going to leave.  The fit was over a poker chip, if you must know.  We were having a nice family poker game (which I won!) and Halmoni took away the poker chip he was playing with.  He was not happy.  He cried and kicked and flailed his arms.  It was like hearing an opera or watching a ballet to this new mommy.

So, while we expected it, it was still frustrating to deal with commenters who said things like, “I thought this was a blog about parenting, what’s with all this race stuff?” When Anti-Racist Parent launched, I wrote about how, contrary to popular belief, racism is a parenting issue.~Jason Sperber of Rice Daddies
