Throw us a bone!
Okay, people, most of you know us in person.  You know we are fat, and prone only to occasional exercise.  We are walking three miles and change (with a 22 pound infant on our back) in support of friends and family touched by cancer.

We have sent out email; we have posted fliers.  We have begged.  Please donate on our behalf to the Race For The Cure.  Susan G. Komen is a wonderful organization.  Seventy five percent of the donation money goes directly to cancer curing efforts in the Portland metro area.  Even a few dollars (5!) will make a difference.

Waking up early on a Sunday morning to walk for a cause one believes in is easy.  Donating online or over the phone is even easier.

Our sincere thanks to those who have already donated.  We will be thinking of you while we walk, and walk, and walk.

Laughter! Laughter Everywhere!
Aricin is laughing.  Not giggling, but laughing!  It's full bellied, head back, arms up, mouth wide open laughing.  It's wonderful.  His laughter sounds like ice tinkling in an empty water glass.

It just started last week.  He laughs when we laugh.  He laughs at the television.  He laughs at the dog.  He laughs at music.  He laughs at us.  He laughs a whose-knows-what while we are driving in the car.

If you haven't been around him, you don't know just how quiet and reticent he has been.  But if you have been around, you can imagine what it feels like to finally hear Ari let go and really LAUGH.

His laughter is like a waterfall. Cool and clear, it soothes our souls.

So, while we expected it, it was still frustrating to deal with commenters who said things like, “I thought this was a blog about parenting, what’s with all this race stuff?” When Anti-Racist Parent launched, I wrote about how, contrary to popular belief, racism is a parenting issue.~Jason Sperber of Rice Daddies
