Congregation Beth Hamedrosh – A Place of Service
CBH is committed to serving
the needs of both its members and the larger Jewish community. Our
outreach is accomplished in specific, concrete ways through a number of
organizations in which our members actively participate or which are
supported by the shul. These include the following:
Yisrael Chai.
Yisrael Chai is an
exciting, cutting-edge program for Jews who want to explore their
Judaism. It provides opportunities for Jews of all backgrounds to draw
closer to their Jewish heritage, to the Jewish community, and to G-d.
Chasdei
Eliyahu. Since 1992, Chasdei Eliyahu has provided food, a clothing
g'mach and emergency funds to Jewish families in Philadelphia who face daily
the specter of poverty. As an organization run entirely by volunteers,
Chalidei Eliyahu operates with virtually no overhead. Every dollar
donated goes directly to providing tangible assistance to families in
need.
Cook for a
Friend. Cook for a Friend
provides frozen kosher meals to adults 60 years or older who are
temporarily unable to prepare meals for themselves. Volunteers deliver
the meals weekly.
Boy Scouts.
Boy Scout Troop 990 is a Shomer Shabbos troop with a full range of
scouting activities. The Troop meets at Kaiserman JCC, 45 Haverford
Road, Wynnewood, PA.
Camp Achdus.
Camp Achdus
began operation in 1999 for the specific purpose of providing Orthodox
Jewish boys from the Philadelphia area a full summer program of
religious, educational and recreational activities. Today, Camp Achdus
provides a summer day program for approximately seventy Orthodox Jewish
boys ranging in age from five years old to fourteen years old.
Philadelphia
Community Kollel.
Philadelphia
Community Kollel fosters Jewish education and awareness
among men, women and children of all affiliations through an energetic
program of Torah study and teaching. All classes and programs are free
of charge and attended by close to 400 individuals a week from pre-dawn
to past 11 p.m. daily.
Penn Wynne
Civic Association. CBH is an active participant in
Penn Wynne Civic Association, a
non-partisan,
volunteer organization committed to promoting a safe and vibrant
residential community in Penn Wynne through a range of activities and
events.

Penn Wynne-Overbrook
Hills Fire Company.
Penn Wynne-Overbrook Hills Fire Company,
is part of the Lower Merion Township Fire Department. The
firehouse is located cattycorner to the synagogue. It's1st
alarm district consists of 3,200 households, approximately 8,500
residents, 1 Hospital, 7 Schools, 2 Geriatric Care Facilities, 3
Synagogues, and 5 Churches.
Main Line Eruv Corporation. Through the tremendous efforts of a
very dedicated group of people, the Main Line Eruv recently tripled in
