Barbara Hathaway holds a Certificate of Advertising Design from the University of Maine at Augusta. She has been painting most of her life and instructing in oil painting for several years. Barbara has exhibited at UMA Jewett Hall & at the Thomaston branch of UMA as well as Seniors Plus at Wilton, Wilton Library, Greenville Arts & Theatre Society, National Museum of Women in the Arts at Washington, D.C., Jay Adult and Community Education Office, the Livermore Falls Art Gallery, UPCOUNTRY ARTISTS Sugarloaf show and Mt. Blue High School. Hathaway is the Author/Illustrator of a children's book titled, The Legend of DASHER and the TOYMAKER.
Hathaway is an Art Instructor for Adult Education programs and has held scheduled programs at Farmington, Livermore Falls, Auburn, Augusta as well as at two Michael's Craft Stores. Classes include watercolor, oil wet-on-wet technique, acrylic, pastel, Illustrating Children's Book and sculpturing. Classes at Hathaway's studio are available also. Day and week and Plein Aire workshops are also coordinated by Hathaway. Hathaway is the Maine Federation of Women's Club Art Department Chairman plus a member of Upcountry Artists and Portland Museum of Art.
