Can you imagine living somewhere that the average winter temperature is -13F (and often much, much
colder) and heat may or may not be available? Now imagine you are a child that has been abandoned or abused and are
without food, money or resources. Imagine living on the streets in subzero temperatures or amidst
the maze of dark sewers and heating pipes that bring hot water to the city,
where it is just a little warmer. Unfortunately, this scenario is not uncommon in the capital of Mongolia, Ulaan Baatar.
We are gathering hand knit (or crocheted) mittens, gloves and scarves (mufflers) from around the world to
send to The Lotus Children’s Centre and other agencies that provide services to the children of Mongolia. The Centre
was established to provide housing, food, education and basic resources to abandoned children in Ulaan Baatar.
