GOD BLESS AMERICA
Friday was the “Fourth of July” a holiday that celebrates the greatness of this country in which we live.
The United States of America has truly been a nation blessed by God. God is still blessing America and our prayer is that
we will continue to honor Him, so that He will continue to bless us.
God appeared to Solomon as the temple was being dedicated and presented a formula
for a nation to receive His blessing. This is found in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “if
My people who are
called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from
their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their
sin and heal their land.. .”
The people of that nation were to humble themselves, to pray, to seek God’s face, and turn from their wicked
ways. To humble ourselves involves looking at others in a different light. We see others equal and better than ourselves.
We honor others by looking after their interest instead of our own. This is a different philosophy than what the world teaches
today. This is difficult, but it can be done.
Being humble also has to do with respecting authority. We are to respect the authority of government leaders, teachers,
employers, parents, and others who have been given positions of authority. If
America is to remain blessed by God, we must make sure that we seek Him as a nation.
We need to be a God-fearing, Bible reading, church-attending people. We must pray for our country and our leaders.
Let us never be ashamed to sing; “God
Bless America”, or to
Say; “One nation under God”; or to read “In God we Trust” on our currency.
As in Solomon’s time we too must turn from our wicked ways. We also have allowed wickedness to take over our
society and we must take a stand to reverse this standard. We need Christian families, church leaders, and individual Christians
uniting to combat the evil that is so prevalent all around us. We need more people letting the light of Christ shine through
them so that others can see that good does exist. This takes effort and the participation of every individual Christian.
We truly are a blessed people living in a most wonderful time in a great and beautiful country. God has blessed America,
He is blessing America and it is our prayer that He will continue to bless America. Let us be people of God, honoring Him
in all that we do.
