Parish Life and Fellowship

peacock - symbol of the Resurrection St. John's Church provides a number of ways that help people to know each other better and to become more involved in the life of the church. Coffee Hour Hosts are persons who volunteer from time to time to bring and serve refreshments following one of the Sunday morning services. Adult Fellowship is a social group that gets together once a month from September through June. It usually meets on Saturdays to participate in a planned activity. The Women's Guild meets on the first Wednesday of the month from September through June. Each member brings a sandwich and enjoys fellowship during the business meeting and monthly program. The Guild represents the senior members of the church and welcomes anyone interested in working for the good of our Church. A program is presented each month by a member or invited speaker which is interesting and informative. The Guild hosts a Bake Sale, the earnings from which are used to beautify the Church and help support several different Guild sponsored projects.

The parish also hosts a number of fund raisers throughout the year. The Annual Parish Fair takes place in October. Lobster Roll Sales take place in March, May and September.

Outreach and Ecumenical Ministry

The Greater Lynn Council of Churches meets about every other month from January to May and then again in September. Its goal is to unite all the churches of the greater Lynn area in ecumenical fellowship. The Council concentrates its resources on the needy of the community, providing fuel assistance and grocery assistance to those in need at the member churches.

My Brother's Table provides prepared meals and friendship for its clients. Since its opening in 1982, almost two million free meals have been served to hungry people. Located at 98 Willow Street in Lynn, My Brother's Table welcomes volunteers to serve food and is appreciative of monetary donations that support its mission.

The Saugus Clergy Association is a joint effort by ten Saugus churches and the Jewish Synagogue to provide effective and efficient means of social outreach to the community. The Saugus Clergy Association events include a monthly lunch meeting of the clergy, Lenten worship services hosted by member churches, Good Friday Walk at Breakheart Reservation, and the Easter Sunrise Service.

Food is gathered each week and taken to the Saugus Food Pantry at the Cliftondale Congregational Church. This ministry provides people from the local area emergency food assistance.
