Medicare

What Happens to My Medicare Coverage?

Medicare coverage continues during Social Security's 9-month trial work period (see Social Security Disability (SSD) Benefits).  For the next 39 months, Medicare coverage will continue so long as Social Security considers you disabled even for those months during the period when earnings are too high to receive SSD cash benefits.  If still disabled when Medicare coverage runs out after the 39-month period, you may purchase the same coverage for a monthly premium.
