  Who Are We

Good Shepherd Stained Glass WindowGood Shepherd Church is a small, friendly congregation that welcomes singles, couples, and families of all kinds. We are an Episcopal Church, part of ECUSA (the Episcopal Church of the United States) and the worldwide Anglican Communion. For more than 100 years, Good Shepherd Church has served the needs of West Fitchburg and the surrounding towns.

We are just over 100 in number (with folks from 1 month old to 101 years old). Our community is blessed to have people almost evenly distributed by age. This allows us to do many activities which include people of all ages. Last year our average attendance on Sundays including both services was 64 people. Almost 80% of the congregation actively supports our activities of worship, fun, and service. At our Annual Meeting each January, we review the past year, elect new vestry members, recognize people for their service, and accept the church budget.

Prayer, service, worship and celebration are at the heart of Good Shepherd Church. We are a small church with a clear vision about how we are called to serve Christ in our neighborhood and the world.

Mission statement:
“We are called to be a haven of God’s love where help, hope and healing abide.”

A brief history:
Good Shepherd is an Arts and Crafts building which housed its first worship service in 1901. The church was a mission from Christ Church to serve the needs of the mill workers. Today the church serves people in Fitchburg and the surrounding towns.
