Westmoreland County Station 121

 

 

 

Our service is located in the City of New Kensington, PA roughly 18 miles northeast of the City of Pittsburgh, located along the Allegheny River.  We are composed of nearly 30 individuals dedicated to the health and safety of the residents and visitors of the City of New Kensington, as well as its surrounding communities.  New Kensington Ambulance serves roughly 15,000 residents and their guests on a daily basis.   New Kensington Ambulance handles medical, river, ice, high angle, and vehicle rescue calls in New Kensington, with the assistance of the New Kensington Fire Department and Police Force.  New Kensington Ambulance also handles all standbys for local sporting events.

 

Recent Incidents

 

March 17, 2008 – Assist Lower Burrell EMS, 2 Vehicle Collision, With Entraptment

Station 121 alerted to assist Lower Burrell #3 EMS at a 2 vehicle accident, on Greensburg Road in the area of Dutchmans Run Road.  M123 responded.  Upon arrival unit’s found a T-bone style collision with one patient entrapped.  The vehicle’s roof was removed by Lower Burrell Engine Co. 54 (Kinloch) and the patient was immediately transported to a Pittsburgh trauma center.

    

 

                December 28, 2007 – Motor Vehicle Collision, Vehicle Vs. Pole

Station 121 dispatched to Route 366 (Freeport St) in the area of Sunoco for a 1 vehicle accident, vehicle into a pole.  M122 & 125 responded.  Upon arrival unit’s found 1 vehicle head on into a telephone pole, with fluids on the roadway.  Patient transported to a local hospital and the scene was turned over to New Kensington Police.

 

December 21, 2007 – Assist Lower Burrell EMS, Vehicle Vs. Pedestrian (Fatal)

Station 121 alerted to assist Lower Burrell #3 EMS at a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident on Route 366 in the Kinloch area of the city.  M122 responded, assisted with care of the patient while LifeFlight was requested to the scene.  Also on scene were Lower Burrell Fire Dept. #1, and New Kensington Fire Department Station 2.  Scene was later turned over to the Pennsylvania State Police & Lower Burrell Police for accident reconstruction.

   

 

December 10, 2007 – Motor Vehicle Collision, with Injuries

Station 121 alerted along with New Kensington Police for a vehicle rollover on Route 56 in the area of Falcon Park Rd.  M123, M125 responded.  Upon arrival patient found self extricated with minor injuries.  Patient transported to local hospital.

 

September 24, 2007 – Motor Vehicle Collision, With Entraptment

Station 121 alerted along with NKFD Stations 5, 4, & 2 for a motor vehicle accident on Route 366 in the area of K-Mart.  Upon arrival 1 patient found entrapped.  Crews removed the driver’s door, and roof.  Patient extricated and transported by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh trauma center.

  

 

       September 20, 2007 – Motor Vehicle Collision, Unknown Injuries

Station 121 and Upper Burrell Fire Department alert for a motor Vehicle accident  on Greensburg Road with unknown injuries.  M122 responded.  Upon arrival units found 1 vehicle into a pole, with no injuries.  Units remained on scene for approximately 30 minutes.

 

        January 19, 2007 – Motor Vehicle Collision, With Entrapment

Station 121 dispatched along with NKFD Rescue Co. 4 to Route 56 for a single vehicle accident with injuries.  M122, 123, & 125 responded.  Upon arrival 2 addition rescue trucks (Lower Burrell and Tarentum), and NKFD Engine Co. 2 were added to the alarm.  Patient extricated from vehicle and transported by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh trauma center.

    

 

                May 23, 2006 – Motor Vehicle Collision, With Entrapment

Station 121 dispatched for a 2 vehicle accident, with entrapment.  Upon arrival crews found heavy entrapment in both vehicles.  Patient’s were extracted and flown by medical helicopters to Pittsburgh trauma centers.
