Dwight Chrvala

If Dwight Chrvala’s name sounds familiar, it may be because you met his wife, Kristin Dillon, in June’s Spotlight! "Last month you met my wife. You probably have seen the human tornado Andy and his side kick Miranda running the halls of the church." Dwight is father to three year old Andy and six month old Miranda who share the house with two cats "who have learned well that children don’t pet, they grab and tug." He lives with his family on Norwood Avenue in Avalon Heights and has been a church member for three years.
Dwight was born in River Edge, New Jersey. He graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Currently he works as a Bank Examiner for the Comptroller of Currency. He is also a Company Commander in the Pennsylvania National Guard (28th Infantry Division Mechanized).
Dwight enjoys spending time with his family and plays in a doubles tennis league with Kristin. Some of his favorite movies include Godfather 1,2 ("not 3"), Star Wars ("Andy digs them also"), and The Natural ("the Pirates need Roy Hobbs"). A favorite song is "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison which was sung by a friend at his wedding. A favorite vacation spot is Martha’s Vineyard where he and Kristin spent their honeymoon. He also enjoys reading, especially Stephen Ambrose.
Dwight has not held an "official" office at CPCBA, but supports Kristin as an elder and in her many duties. "I head the important position of household monitor when Kristin attends her meetings. She times those meetings just right to get home to keep the children from overrunning me." He sites Kristin as his biggest spiritual influence; "she keeps things in perspective for me." Dwight cherishes how truly caring the people are at CPCBA, "that is what brought us to the church." His favorite prayer is the Hail Mary. "The reason stems back to my grandmother. When I was young she tried and tried to get me to learn this prayer. She had cancer and did not have long to live. I practiced day after day to memorize the prayer. I spoke to her on the phone and said the prayer with her from memory. It was the last time I got to speak to her." He also loves to hear Andy and Kristin sing "Jesus Loves Me". "Hearing my son sing this with Kristin is just wonderful." Dwight attended Alpha and enjoyed the bible study discussion, especially when he was the only guy in the group!
