UUCOD's candidacy to the Green Sanctuary Program of the Unitarian Universalist Association was approved mid-October. We will
now begin to implement our Action Plan of 12 activities in the areas of spiritual practice, religious education, earth justice
and sustainable living. They are intended to increase awareness of environmental issues and encourage positive change among
ourselves and in the wider community. They will include church programs, outreach to community organizations, interfaith alliances
and individual initiatives. Please visit this page each month to see how we are progressing.

| at Congresswoman Mary Bono-Mack's Office |
UUCOD was represented by Green Sanctuary Chair Judy Farris (3rd from left) at an event arranged by Allis Druffel (far right),
Southern California Outreach Director for California Interfaith Power and Light, and including two representatives from St.
Margaret's Episcopal Church in Palm Desert. We presented letters to Congresswoman Bono-Mack at her District Office in Palm
Springs, urging her support as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee for the American
Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009. Several days later, Congresswoman Bono-Mack joined with others in voting yes, allowing
the bill to be considered by the full House. We will follow its progress and participate in further support.
