Powhatan Moose Fall Festival
And Golf Tournamnet
Hello Fellow Moose and WOTM Members,
I am writing this in hopes of getting you at least interested and hopefully involved in the Fall Festival and Golf Tournament
that is scheduled for September 20th,2008 and has the potential of raising more funds than any single event we have ever had!!
Just to keep you in the loop, here is the skinny:Out of the Moose Legion Committee, we formed two different Committees(1)Fall
Festival Committee and (2) the Golf Committee, we meet every Wednesday night at the Lodge at 6:30pm and would welcome any
and all positive input at the meetings. What we have accomplished so far....Fall Festival Committee:1.We decided on the menu,Pork
Barbeque with bun, coleslaw, chili and corn. This is all you can eat on the premises.
2.We decided and booked the band "One For You"
3.We had tickets printed and desperately need help to sell them!
4.We had posters and flyers made up and are in the process of putting them out in business around Powhatan and adjoining
counties.
5.We have purchased and placed banners and signs around the county.
6.We have sent the application for the One Day Banquet License to the ABC board.
7.We are in the process of getting prices on event insurance and the beer truck.
8.We are in the process of advertising on various radio shows, newspapers, websites and local magazines.
Golf Committee:1.They have booked the Golf Course.
2.They have sign-up sheets for the teams to play golf and for hole sponsors.
3.They have received a few door prizes.
4.They are in the process of knocking on doors to get sponsors and more door prizes.
What we still need to accomplish:1.Sell Tickets,Sell Tickets,Sell Tickets if one forth of the membership(Approx. 100 members)
sold a book of 10 Tickets that would be 1000 tickets sold!!! Tickets are available in the Social Quarters. A book of 10 tickets
is $125.00 and if sold individually $15.00 a ticket. Any Moose or WOTM can get tickets to sell. If you do sell tickets, please
turn in the money ASAP so we can get a head count for the food.
2.There are sign-up sheets in the Social Quarters for various tasks that are needed to make this event a success(i.e.
gate workers, food servers, beer servers, set up crews and clean up crews, etc.)
3.Golf Teams and Hole Sponsors-if you play golf or know anyone that does, this is a super deal for a golfer to play 18
holes, dinner, beverages, band and prizes for $60.00. Anyone can purchase a hole sponsorship for $100.00. After the golf tournament
all the sponsorship signs will be lined up in front of the stage at the Fall Festival.
4.Door prizes-it can be anything from a cap, a free oil change, golf tees.golf balls, whatever anyone is willing to donate
that someone would appreciate.
5.Prepare the food on the days leading up to and the day of the event.
6.Orange Safety fencing for a temporary fence at the rescue squad grounds. We should be able to return it after the Fall
Festival.
You are more than welcome to come on out and get involved. A lot has been done already and I would like to Thank everyone
that has been involved, keep up the good work!!!
