Join our team and be in the forefront of nature protectors! Poricy Park's experienced and trained instructors will lead nature explorations and instill an appreciation of nature through experiements, crafts, and hands-on activities. Team size is limited, so please register early to give your child the healthy benefits that outdoors and nature exploration provides. Meet at the Nature Center
 
Fee: Paid registration required minimum of one week prior to session attending
 
For each individual session:
Members $13.50/session; Non members $15/session

Knitting Bee
Tuesdays, Nov 24th & Dec 1st & 15th
7:00pm - 8:00 pm
 
It's time to create that special homemade gift! We will teach everyone from the "never held a knitting needle" person to experienced knitters who would like to knit in the company of other knitters and everyone in-between. From knit and purl to textured patterns, you can learn! All levels of knitters will be advised upon registration as to what they need to bring. Not necessary to commit to all  sessions.  Meet at Nature Center -Must pre-register at least one week prior to each session.

Left Overs Hike
Friday, November 27th
10am-11am
Walk away from the leftovers in your refrigerator and join us for a relaxed nature hike through the scenic Poricy Park trails. We will look around and see what is 'left over' from the growing season and discover nature's seasonal wonders! Please pre-register so that we know you are coming! Appropriate for all ages. Meet at the Nature Center.
 
Nature Scavenger Hunt

Sunday, December 6th

1:00pm – 3:00pm

Use the power of observation to find all of the items on our special list. No need to bring a collection bag because you will leave all the things you observe for the next person! We’ll provide you with the special list and a map. Don’t be late – time is limited! Please pre-register so we know you are coming!

Bird House Décor!

Tuesday, December 8th   

7:00pm – 8:30pm

Learn the fun technique of decoupage & embellish a wooden birdhouse! Houses are 5”-7” tall; styles vary; house is for indoor décor only. We supply everything you’ll need, just bring your creativity! Appropriate for tweens through adults. Reservations required.

Home-Baked Gingerbread Houses!

Sunday, December 13th   

1:00pm – 2:30pm      

Our talented and experienced Eileen Beaumont will share her recipes, fresh home-baked gingerbread and decorating ‘secrets’ with YOU. You will take home your own sweet treat unlike any other ever created. We recommend each person create their very own masterpiece. Each home-baked house measures approximately 3 ¼ inches long by   3 ¼ inches tall by 2 ¾ inches wide prior to decorating. Appropriate for ages 7 to 107 (all children must be accompanied & supervised by an adult) Your Registration is needed!!!

Candlelight Reception

Join us for this traditional favorite and relax. Time to let the busyness go. We’ll pour you a cup of warm cider while you enjoy the sweet sounds of our minstrel Tony Sloan! Walk-ins welcome, yet pre-registration is highly encouraged!

The Art of Nature

2-Day Workshop for K through 5th grade

Exciting NEW program offered collaboratively with

the Middletown Arts Center

Nature has always been a recurring theme in art around the world. Whatever art medium you choose, the wonders of nature remain a constant source of inspiration. The Art of Nature program will have a two day focus on the importance of nature and art together. Spend Tuesday, Dec 29th at Poricy Park exploring natural wonders through hikes and activities with a trained guide. (Please dress appropriately for the weather.) Then on Wednesday, Dec 30th participants will meet at Middletown Arts Center and create imaginative and inspired works of art that echo the beauty experienced the day prior. 

Registration Required by 12/21/09

Fee: $70 members (either organization);

        $85 non-members

 

Summer Camp in December

Wednesday, December 30th 9:30am-12:30am

Attention campers & winter adventurers! Do you want to experience the fun adventures of Poricy Park Summer Camp prior registering for Summer 2010 camps? Now is the time. Replace the chill in the air with the warmth of camp friendships. Activities planned include winter hikes, stories by the fire, themed crafts plus more. Perfect for ages 5-11.

Meet at the Nature Center  -  Must Pre-Register

Fee: $30 members; $36 non-members

 

Community Program Fees
Poricy Park Conservancy strives to provide quality programs at a reasonable cost to our visitors. Your generous contributions assist us in sustaining our operation. Unless otherwise noted, recommended program donations are $3 for members and $5 for non-members.
 
Pre-Registration is requested for all programs unless noted otherwise, allowing us to plan supplies and instructor coverage accordingly. Although walk-in registration the day of the program is available, a program will be cancelled if the pre-registration minimum is not met the day before.
 
Please ask us if you are in doubt of age appropriateness of any program. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
 
Programs are held rain or shine so please dress accordingly.
