We're Open!

Commonwealth Books, after 15 wonderful years at our location on Boylston Street, has moved! Our lease was up and we had to go. But…we have not moved too far. Please join us at our new location in Downtown Crossing in Boston, at the corner of Washington and (historic) Spring Lane. We are across (diagonally) from the Borders Book Store and about a one minute walk from our "Old South" annex. The new space is the same size as both floors of the old shop but is on one ground floor space. We have secured a long term lease that will keep us in Boston. The "State Street T stop" (orange line and blue line) is approximately 90 feet from our front door (at top of stairs, go right, and look to the right and you will see our door or sign depending upon which exit you use. The Green line "Gov. Center T stop" is a few minutes walk away). Both the Spring Lane store and the Old South store are on the Freedom Trail and intersect Washington Street. Thank you for all your support at the Boylston Street location over all these years and hope you will continue to come in and browse at the new location. Both locations continue to be open 7 days a week.

In all our stores and on our site, you will find a diverse selection of books, with particular emphasis on the arts, architecture, history, literature, philosophy, and religion. We also have a large selection of antique prints and maps at both locations.
We strive to maintain an interesting and affordable collection of hard-to-find books and prints for both the scholar and the collector.
Our "brick & mortar" locations are open 7 days a week; stop in and pay us a visit next time you are in Boston.
