Anna Karin and Dingo

Dingo and Anna Karin left for Sweden on Thursday April 6th and we are very happy to report that they traveled safely and are now happily together at their new home. Anna Karin was an au pair that lived in The Plains for the past 2 years. During that time, she volunteered often and became very close to our funny friend Dingo! They were such a terrfic couple that when Anna Karin asked us if we would consider allowing her to take him home with her, we didn't hesitate at all. The long journey was a concern but Dingo is a healthy young man and we knew it would be worth it in the long run. We will miss them deeply but look forward to pictures and updates and maybe some day one of us will visit them in Sweden!

MHF's new van!

Check out our new van! Grant funding allowed MHF to purchase a new cargo van to transport our animals in a temperature controlled safe manner- we are so thrilled!

Update on Happy the pig!

Happy the pig moved to her new home last week and it is as close to pig heaven as you will ever get on this earth! Happy now lives in a 5 acre wooded enclosure at Tucum Farm in Rectortown! She has trees and rocks and lots of room to run and play. She can root up and eat whatever she wants! Happy also has 3 new friends: Goat, the 3 legged goat and two pot bellied pigs,we call the nuglets! They live next door in another huge wooded enclosure. Happy is definitely the luckiest pig ever!

Annual June Event

Preparations for our Annual June Fundraiser are well under way, and we all feel that this year will be the best yet! So far, we have received many wonderful items for our silent auction. Click here for a preview! There are also many wonderful table designers on board this year. This event is our largest fundraiser of the year. This year, 10% of the event proceeds will be directly targeted for animal rescue efforts in the gulf coast region. Click here to read more about this fabulous event.
