Finally, we're updating the Water Cooler! It's been very busy
at MHF this spring and summer.
The Wingfield Garden Tour on May 10 and 11 went
very well, in spite of the sketchy weather. We raised money for the shelter and several of our animals who attended
found homes. You can see pictures of the tour on our Recent Events page. Many thanks to Meg Gardner for hosting this event at her gorgeous home!
Our office was closed for a couple weeks while we set up for and
then cleaned up after our 14th Annual Black Tie Benefit at Peace & Plenty in Bollingbrook. The
event was spectacular and raised much-needed funds for our organization. Many thanks to our auction donors, underwriters
and volunteers for making this another wonderful event! Photos of the gala can be found on our Recent Events page.
We're in the middle of cat and kitten season: it typically starts
in the spring and runs through summer. As of today, we have 47 kittens at the shelter, and that's not
counting the adult cats we have as well. Please tell your friends and family who are looking for a cat to visit us or
their local county shelter -- every shelter in the area is overrun right now, and is having to euthanize almost all new arrivals.
These kittens need homes!
See our Recent Rescues page to read about some of the animals we've rescued in the last couple of months, and visit our Available Animals page to see everyone else!
