Our open house/blanket sale this past weekend was a lot of fun and raised funds to keep the shelter operating.  See Recent Events for details and pics.  Everyone at MHF is so glad the community came out to support us and visit the shelter animals.  We had a lot of volunteers help set up and man the different booths and we're very appreciative of all they do for us!

Rucker got adopted!  He was here for 2 1/2 years and finally found his forever home last week with a young couple in Reston.  One of our volunteers, Lila, saw him a couple days ago at a dog park in Ashburn having a great time with his new family.

Millie and Red, two of the hounds from the severe starvation case in July (see our Recent Rescues page), found their forever homes!  Millie was near death when we found her in a locked, dark stall, and Red was emaciated on a very short chain with no food or water, but now they've found love with wonderful new families. Dogs from that case who are still with us looking for homes are Karen, Baby, Chief, Tom Bigbee, Josephine, Sammi, Bernie and a litter of Walker Coonhound puppies.

Remember to vote for MHF every day for the Animal Rescue Site Shelter Challenge!  The shelter in the U.S. with the most votes receives a grant of $25,000 which we really need right now.  As of today, we're up to #23!  But you have to vote every day.  Click on "Vote for MHF" on the navigation bar to the left and vote!

Welcome to Stef Perkins, our new spay/neuter coordinator!  Stef was a volunteer at MHF and has a ton of equine experience -- she's a great addition to our team!
