Our new little girl Kyra (renamed from Roxie) came home today.  She is so good and so smart. She ran and played. She walked and met the Golden Retriever three house down. She met the gardener and explored the big backyard and the whole house less the basement. She is learning to be careful on stairs.  She sits on command, lies down, and loves baby organic carrots.

Attached are two pictures which capture her first day in her new home.

Thank you for all your assistance in bringing us together.

Sincerely,

Joe

Rob aka Nester

Hi Guys! Just wanted to tell you that Rob, whom we've renamed to Nester, is doing great!  He took less than 3 hours to get used to us, get used to the size of the house, and fall in love with our dog, Lily.  I've attached a picture as proof--we can't believe it either! Everything is wonderful and Nester is flawless.  Still super cuddly and sweet and
very playful and energetic.  We couldn't be happier! He is the undeniable King of the House!
Thank you again so so much!
Love,
Maria, Ken, and Lily

September 22 - Lexie and Dexter are perfect. Lexie is a love. She follows me around, loves people and is very active and vocal. She has been sleeping in our room. Dexter is also a love. He loves his walks, but generally finds a comfy spot and snoozes most of the day. My children are absolutely in love and the dogs really seem to enjoy their endless attention. We are still working on how they get along with Stitch. Everything is fine, but Stitch is huge and doesn't really understand space. They are fine as long as Stitch minds his manners. To a certain extent, we need to let them alone and establish their pecking order once and for all. But we are relieved to see that none of them seem to be aggressive and have only seen the occasional growl. Please feel free to pass along any advice. We have been keeping them separate when we leave the house, but try to keep them together as much as possible when we are around. We walk Lexie and Stitch together on leashes. But Dexter is too petrified to walk next to Stitch. Thanks for checking in. All is well and I think Lexie and Dexter are happy with their new home.

Oliver & Clara Bell

The goats are doing wonderfully and they look great.  Their weight is good, their coats are looking fabulous, and they are getting accustomed to life as "civilized" goats.  We are still working on leading and allowing feet to be picked up and trimmed, but they've got the rules down now.  Clara Bell really enjoys getting petted and brushed.  She's very sweet.  Oliver still only wants to talk to you when you have food.  All around, I think their progress has been GREAT! And they are doing a remarkable job clearing brush for me.  They have really wokred out well for me and I wanted to thank MHF for allowing me to adopt them. - Karen

Dear wonderful Folks @ MHF,
Just a quick update to tell you all that Bojangles, now Beau (to show off his french roots) is settling in wonderfully. He seems to get along with everyone and has taken to indoor house life with gusto! He is learning all about stairs, car rides and dog toys. I am actually teaching him how to play. We have mastered sit also and hope to excel at lie down real soon. He also has discovered that he can sneak up onto my bed when I am asleep and curl right up and join me. You were all correct in saying that he is a very special dog, I am so pleased with his progress and what joy he is bringing me. My other dog is teaching him who is the boss and they have reached a peace-filled accord. We are all hoping that the cat follows suit  ( right now all hisses and avoidance). Once again I'd like to thank you all for all the good work that you do and for saving this very special guy.
Sincerely,
Debi

Reagan & Teddy (aka Buddy)

Hello Middleburg Humane!
Just thought I'd drop you a line to say that "Buddy" is doing wonderfully!
I think we're going to call him "Theodore", "Teddy" for short (in sticking with the presidents theme that we started with Reagan). He came home, met the girls, then we all went on a walk in the park. He just wants to play! And the walk wore him out, so here is a picture of him and our 12 year old, usually aggressive dog.

He's a love! Thank you so much!

Charlie saying "Hi"

I just wanted to say hi and let you know that Charlie is doing GREAT!  He is such a happy lovable little guy!!  I love taking him for walks and car rides, he loves being out around other people and truly is a great companion!  Charlie and my other dog Moe, which I rescued off of petfinder a few years ago are inseparable at this point!!!

Last summer a volunteer brought a very special kitten named "Chip" to the Veterinary Surgical Referral Practice where I work as a Licensed Veterinary Technician.  "Chip" bounded out of his crate and it was love at first sight for me.  Despite having been born with a very large abdominal hernia, he was a happy and affectionate guy.  It actually took three surgeries to correct his extensive issues, and through it all he stayed happy and loving.  He never held a grudge about all the medical intrusions he had to endure.

I adopted him and took him home after the first surgery.  He has been an important part of my household since then.  His new name is "Flyball" after a super intelligent cat hero from a 1950s kids book.  I also do flyball with my dogs so the name seemed appropriate.

"Flyball" has never met a person or animal that he didn't want to be friends with.  He has many dog friends, including my 3 dogs and a toy poodle that he has play dates with at the clinic.  I think he thinks he is a dog!  He is super smart and makes me laugh every day.

I'm actually very grateful that "Flyball" had to come to our clinic that first day.  Because otherwise I might never have met this very special bobtail cat.  I'm also very thankful to the Middleburg Humane Foundation for saving his life and giving him a chance to live a long, happy life.

Oliver is doing well at his new home,
The Goodstone Inn.  As you can see from the picture, he has new friends and rather enjoys their suckling of his tummy!
