The following is a list of basic information on equines that are available for adoption through our equine rescue program. The list changes frequently therefore, we encourage you to file an application with us even if there is no one on this current list that you may be interested in. We look forward to working with you and thank you for helping us help them! Also, check out our petfinder.org  webpage for pictures of some of the horses we have listed below.

HERCULES -–*CURRENTLY IN FOSTER WITH PERMANENT ADOPTION PENDING* An absolutely gorgeous 12H bay pony. Hercules is 5 years old, recently castrated, and a terrific mover! He has good ground manners but has been mishandled so is learning to trust. Hercules is currently in foster care as a lay up babysitter until March 1st. 

FLOWER - Flower is a gorgeous 21 year old dk. bay TB mare who is a terrific mover! She was rescued from a starvation case in January so she is still recovering but is doing beautifully. We plan to work with her in the spring to see if she could be a light pleasure/trail horse.

MHF often receives calls from owners needing to give up their horses – we try to help through referrals. MHF has no other information on the following horses except for what is stated below. Please contact the owners directly. Currently available:

FANCY - 22 yr. old 15H red roan Tennessee Walker mare.  Sound, excellent trail horse, needs an intermediate rider. Excellent ground manners and wonderful for the farrier.  Has proof of negative coggins and is current on all vaccinations. Please call Nola Patten (540) 364-1442.

KEEP IT HOLY -  8-10 year old , 16.2H dapple gray TB gelding.  Circumstances no longer allow her to care for him.  Unsound due to calcification in ankle.  Very loving and sweet personality.  Please contact Pamela at (540)349-0301 between 7-9pm. Added 10/26/05

NUDGE - 8 year old TB gelding, dark bay w/ black mane & tail. 16.1H, needs a strong intermediate rider, has been trail ridden but is “frisky”. Nice in ring, just strong. 100% sound but should not be jumped competitively. Free lease situation or possible adoption. Carolyn Shortt- (703) 327-2153.

SALEM – 9 yr. old TB/QH, 15.3H, companion gelding.  Sun-bleached black with white star.
