Preliminary Terms for Livestock Adoption
Middleburg
Humane Foundation (MHF) attempts to place each animal that is available for adoption in a home that best suits that animal’s
particular needs. Animals adopted from MHF cannot be used for breeding or racing,
or resold or given away. Under NO circumstances shall any animal adopted
from MHF be sold for meat or slaughtered. In the event that the placement does
not work out for any reason, MHF requires that the animal be returned to MHF. Additionally,
if the animal must be relocated from the original approved facility, MHF must be notified of new facility. MHF reserves the right to deny adoption for any reason at its sole discretion, and is not obligated to state
any reason for such denial.
Before any animal
may be adopted from MHF, the following procedures must be followed:
- The Livestock Adoption Questionnaire must be completed, signed and returned to MHF along with a signed copy of this Preliminary Terms for Livestock Adoption.
- Upon review and approval of the Adoption Questionnaire by an official of MHF, the prosepective adopter will be contacted
by MHF to schedule an appointment for an interview and to meet/view the animal(s).
- If the personal interview is satisfactory and a suitable animal is available, MHF will schedule an appointment
to check out the adopter’s facility. In addition, MHF will also contact
the references provided on the Adoption Questionnaire.
- Upon completion of the above, MHF will either approve or deny the adoption.
For all adoptions that
have been granted approval, MHF will require the following at the time of adoption:
- All potential adoptions go home on a 2 month foster agreement prior to final adoption of all livestock.
- Completion of an Adoption Contract, with such terms and conditions as MHF, in its sole discretion, may determine.
- Payment in full of a non-refundable adoption fee will be required at time of adoption.
4. MHF reserves the right to conduct unscheduled follow-up checks on the adopted animal and facility
at MHF’s discretion. For equines, the adopter is required to submit a completed
Annual Adoption Questionnaire including a current photograph.
I have read and understand
the above procedures and requirements. I agree to abide by all animal related
laws of the State and County in which I reside. Additionally, I attest that I
have never been convicted of a charge of or related to cruelty to animals and that no such charge is currently pending.
