Wine Classes

Classes are held every week on

Tuesday 6:30-7:45pm

In the Tuesday classes I focus on Varietals, Wine making processes and Label Reading, Food Pairing (these are all general topics, in any given class the discussion may delve into many subjects)

At the end of each class I ask the participants to choose a winner from the line up of wines we've sampled. This winner is put on sale the following week so all the TGL customers can benefit. The final Tuesday of each month these winners are lined up against each other and paired with food. The winner of that class is the 'Tuesday' Winner of the Month and remains on sale!

Wines tasted on Tuesday are all in the $16 and under range. I try to make the classes as relaxed and fun as possible. Questions are welcome!! The best way to learn about wines is to taste them and discuss with others. There is a fee of $8 per person. Your first class is free!! (The cost of class on Food Pairing Night varies)

Wednesday 6:30-7:45pm

In the Wednesday class we taste wines of a higher price range and occasionally treat ourselves to items from the wine cellar. The class sometimes focuses on the History of Wine, Wine Making Regions and Wine Styles but still includes all the information given on Tuesday -

The first Wednesday of the month the class participants go head to head in a competition to see who the best taster is. We do a blind tasting with 5 wines! The winner of this blind tasting is then given the privilege to choose a wine from the TGL Wine Cellar which we taste along with other wines on the final Wednesday of the month.

Wines tasted on Wednesday are all in the $30 and under range. There is a fee of $16 per person for this class (on nights when a cellar wine is tasted the price of class varies)

A little bit about me - I have been working with my father for the last 12 years. As shocking as this may seem, at some point it became evident to me that he did not actually know everything there was to know about wine. This realization prompted me to find other sources of information.

I have since been studying, first with the Wine School of Philadelphia and I am now actively perusing a degree from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust. I have been offering wine classes here, in the store, for over four years. In my experience I have learned one thing...I can talk to people about wine until their eyes glaze and their minds wander but, they won't really understand until they taste the wines and experience them for themselves. My classes are an opportunity for someone to taste and learn. I truly believe that experiencing the difference in wines is how you can really learn.
