Perkin's Brailler repair specialist for over 20 years...

I have memories of my father struggling with his brailler when I was a young boy. I was totally mesmerized when he disassembled it in an effort to make repairs.

As an adult and as a community service, in 1989 I started repairing braillers for several community agencies and state school systems. Over the past twenty years I have repaired several thousand braillers including Uni and Large Cell. Each one has told its own unique story about its use and its ownership.

I learned the snacks of choice are Graham Crackers and Oreos. Mars candy bars are great but are especially ugly when melted in a brailler.

The favorite pet in a brailler household is a cat over a dog. I can spot a brailler that’s been stored in the garage for the past ten years in a flash when all it needed was a little TLC!

Perkins braillers are very well constructed and designed for lifetime usage but all braillers occasionally need tune-ups and/or repairs. It's rare that a brailler is unrepairable. Give me a shot at it first!

Braillers are a tool and just like any other tool they need to be cared for and maintained.
Here are a few hints to extend the life of a brailler.
  • The best way to avoid problems is to use a cover when not in use.
  • Don't sit or stand on your brailler. Not joking...
  • Don't drop it ever!
  • Don't let your cat use it as a place to sleep.
  • Oh, did I mention the part about using a cover?
