While I was looking for the relevant literatures to my writing, I kept their URLs in my file. Going
back online at any time with the list of URLs was very convenient, when I needed to review the
literatures. Thanks to the great invention of Internet and those people who
spent so much time and efforts in making the literatures available online for
research.
A list of reference at
the end of a book is for the readers to find the interesting articles,
books, and other writings for further reading. When online
research was not available, the readers could not easily do so, even if
that they wanted. Besides, how many readers were really interested in reading
further? In early 2007, when I finished more
than 50% of my writing, I felt that I was obliged to passing on all my interesting information to my readers..
During the months of January and February
2008, I worked day and night to organize a 100-plus-page reading list that
includes the articles and their URLs, if available. My goodness! What a waste, if I place the list at the end of my book.
I decided to place the reading list online to trim the book volume and its price. The interested
reader can check article(s) on the
list, and click on the article's URL to view the article. Of
course, I cannot guarantee that every article's URL is available all the
time. Hopefully, the publishers and organizations who placed their articles
online will keep their article available online for more researchers and
interested readers to use the articles in further research. A few dozens of articles in italic on the list are listed in more than one category for their cross reference.
I also listed the number of each article that
I used for reference in my discussion, in the the last chapter of the book, Carbohydrates Can Kill. The numbers of the articles
are the same on this reading list. Please use this list for your reference when you read the chapter.
Finally, I hope you like this list. I urge you to let the publishers and organizations know of
your appreciation for their generous
contributions to public education by making their articles available online.
