The Lutheran Mission Society's LMS Disaster Relief Unit is the newest LMS ministry outreach, able to respond quickly to the site of a natural disaster to bring water, fresh clothing, personal care items, Bibles and spiritual comfort to people in crisis. The well-stocked unit serves as the LMS Southern Maryland Mobile Compassion Center while awaiting emergency use in time of disaster.
Initially, the mobile unit will be available to respond to disasters in the Maryland area and, if requested, further along the East Coast.. As the program grows and more units are brought into readiness, the serviceable area will grow, too.
