Rev. Barnes

“A burden shared is a burden lightened,” said Rev. David Barnes, pastor of the Havre de Grace Center’s new Mid-Week Chapel.  “The atmosphere at Wednesday worship is come-as-you-are.  People pop in to 'take a load off' and enjoy a 20-minute refreshment for the soul.  We've already heard so many great stories!”

“I am very grateful to the Lutheran Mission Society and Compassion Center staff for this opportunity,” said Rev. Barnes.  As the Barnes’ start a new Lutheran congregation in the area, centered on western Cecil County, this weekly chapel service lets them “get a flavor for the people of this region.  And as a mission pastor without regular 'church duties', I get practice ministering in an unusual setting."

“But the church really is not a building or even Sunday worship, but where the Spirit moves among God's people.  We've certainly seen that at the Havre de Grace chapel service!

”Hopefully, partnerships like this -- and the upcoming [Fall Festival at the Havre de Grace Compassion Center on October 3rd] -- will help all Lutherans accomplish the good works God has prepared for us to do!" (Eph 2:8-10)

We are "better together!"
