I've dropped out of school, and need to get my education, some employability skills, and some counseling.....Can Youth Corps help me?

Yes we can!  Through the Youth Corps, you can accomplish all those things.  Let's talk about what you would need to do in order to enroll in our 12 week cycle.  It will break down like this:

1.  You must first withdraw from school.  If you are 16 or 17 years old, you will need to get your parents permission.  Parental signatures are required on the Youth Corps Application and on the NJ State Consent to Particpate forms. (the latter form is only available at the Youth Corps office)

2.  Contact the NJYC of Phillipsburg to set up an interview.  You will need to come prepared to talk about your previous experiences and fill out a 4 page application.  Be sure to bring your Social Security card and Birth Certificate with you!

3.  After completing your application and going through a basic interview, you will be contacted to notify you of your start date.

Program Operations:  Full Time, Year Round, Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Friday 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Orientation - 2 weeks

1.  The first two weeks, you will be assessed on your academics through some testing (Test of Adult Basic Education or TABE & the GED Practice Exam).  Additionally, you will participate in Team building activites and local field trips to introduce your class to local representatives and partner agencies.

2.  After completing the first 2 weeks, you will be officially inducted into Youth Corps where you will officially be recognized as a 'Corpsmember'.

Regular Program Operations - 10 weeks

1.  After making it through Orientation, you will begin the regular day-to-day activites of our program.  It will consist of the following repeating schedule:
